If every week continues to improve, just like this one was a little bit better than last, I can only imagine what we will be writing about in a year. It may be something like this-
“Now accepting this years golden mic and Pulitzer prize for exceptional broadcasting, sharing knowledge, helping others and then following up with the written word on the GRT Fitness blog-”
Seriously, like I am not always serious,
!
This week was outstanding, so lets get to it-

David “Mr. Consistent” Lorenz checked in from Minnesota, yep 10,000 lake country while he was at a conference, so we talked on what he was doing up there, and had a short visit.
Did you know that the Great Lakes region of the US works hard on foreign visitors checking out our whole Midwest region, that they sort of find the Midwest on like their fifth visit and then are amazed by our tourist sites, our lakes, parks and opportunity for great “cross generational ” fun times for all ages.
We did talk about the Vasa bike trail, and I will hit him up again on that one, since frankly I had never heard of it. But hey what else is new with ”Mr. Consistent” David Lorenz, he always has great new stuff, this time no exception.
He was short on time so we will talk more about the Eastern U.P. next time.
JoAnne Lema of ”After Fifty Living”, made her first visit of what I guarantee will be many to the land of X-Generation and Baby Boomers, “Boomers Rock” the hottest radio show since, well, top forty radio.
JoAnne, a consummate in shape lady, (that means she gets her time in fitness wise), decided that a website and web community was needed for Boomers for all kinds of good info, for example, business opps, housing information, dating sites that won’t rip a Boomer or Gen X’er off, a one stop shopping Internet destination.
Health and fitness, your money, (yes we want you to keep what you earned, you are family for goodness sakes right).
Jo and her hubby Lou with their two children and grand daughter Daisy, (had to mention Daisy), are welcome new family members to what we are doing , and I am truly thrilled and blessed to have made their acquaintance.
Welcome to the family JoAnne, and Lou, check out her site and let her know, or let me know what you need, we are here to help everyone who asks.

If you missed this show, well lets hope the archives are coming soon because I was visited by two eminent physicians from North Carolina, Dr Murali Doriaswamy, of Duke University and Dr. Mohan Chilukari of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill were my guests and if I said I was thrilled and excited, well that would be an understatement.
I really could write an entire blog on this interview, the information was that great. I had to condense this down because it is a one hour show and the interview was only almost 40 minutes, which now that I think about it is a long interview , especially for two guys that are extremely busy.
Again I digress, get on with it long winded one, ok!
Dr Doriaswamy and his book “The Alzheimer’s Action Plan”, articles on brain health and exercise were our topic. These doctors want to help educate people about the options and preventive measures you can take to improve your odds of having a healthy brain, and therefore improve your QOL (quality of life).
How food choices, over 300 a day on average, can lead to health or not.
How everyone has the the potential, metaphorically speaking, a gun- (diabetes), and how you do not have to pull the proverbial trigger, (catch my drift?).
That choices we all make can lead to a happy more meaningful life for all of us Boomers and Gen-X’ers, or not, your choice, positive thinking people, positive thinking!
Even if you are born with a certain predisposition to a genetic trait, along with our environment, the study of it, Epigenetics, is what you DO with your life, not always the genetic makeup that can determine your health.
Just because some condition may exist in your family history don’t be afraid, or assume, that it is your future, because according to the experts you are not necessarily doomed, not hardly.
Everyone needs to think about taking charge of their life, that exercise has been shown to make tremendous changes in certain conditions, for example depression. That we are all living in a high stress world, that the 80-90 % number of people who now work in sedentary jobs, that the hunter/gatherer in all of us needs to move more.
In closing I would like to reiterate what these experts said, take charge of your life, empower yourself to become stronger and watch what can happen.
Much more will be coming from my new friends from North Carolina, in the mean time go and buy Dr. Doriaswamy’s book, the “Alzheimer’s Action Plan”, we did and it is fantastic!

Today I had reserved the whole show to my guest Ray Faulkenberry, and we had a great visit, him in Hawaii, and me in Michigan.
That was after my monologue where I had a chance to talk about my opinion and review of the new gym in town “Planet Fitness.”
To say I was not impressed would be nice, but I am all about the positives in the world I am going to leave it at that.
If you have specifics you would like to ask me just drop me a note.
On to my pal Ray, one really cool guy.
Ray Faulkenberry PhD is an author, martial arts expert, (Black Belt), teacher and I would like to say friend. I man who I admire tremendously, who has the zest for life, is a boomer we can all learn from.
Ray uses the term “kindred” as we talk about our growing friendship, I am honored to have him say this, truly.
Ray talks eloquently about transformation, the personal, physical, and spiritual. It is the key to success at any age, however vital to boomers and gen-x’ers because we all have the potential to mentor many, and our country and planet need it, and all us to follow through.
Ray’s statement, “ready, fire, aim“, hits the point, doesn’t it?
He believes strongly in the Universal laws, the Law of Attraction, (my favorite), is one, however Ray strives to share all twenty laws, action, relationship, vision focus to name a few.
That the world is loaded with many who hold potential, it is those few who utilize the potential who must step up and lead.
We spoke about how many people are not afraid of failure, but afraid of success. A paradox I had never really thought of, and one of the many reasons I enjoy speaking with Dr. Ray, knowledge and learning.
As Ray said, so very clearly, don’t sabotage your own success, and dream huge, develop that definiteness of purpose and get your small steps started and moving forward.
Potential is just that, action makes it happen!
“Procrastination is the fear of success. People procrastinate because they are afraid of the success
that they know will result if they move ahead now. Because success is heavy, carries a responsibility
with it, it is much easier to procrastinate and live on the ‘someday I’ll’ philosophy.”
Dennis Waitley
I would have loved to take credit for that quote, alas not to be this time
Always remember that you can email questions, ideas thoughts to me and I will read everyone.
Hit me up on www.tom@grtfitness.com and listen to the radio show Monday-Wednesday-Friday live 6:00pm EST at www.ftns.co
I appreciate everyone who listens, my producers without whom I cannot function, and of course my guests who make “Boomers Rock” the success that it is becoming, together we change the world, one broadcast at a time.
Much love to everyone,
T
